We drove to Brentwood in the afternoon to do some fruit picking. I’ve always looked forward to pick strawberries coz those are always the sweetest. With luck, we saw the Chan’s Farms were open for fruit picking - they have the sweetest strawberries! Too bad the size of those strawberries that were left were all small, but they were sweet. We then drove to Pomeroy Farms to get some nectarines. The peaches weren’t really ripe yet, so we didn’t get any. Maybe next time. The nectarines, however, were just perfect, and we got a whole bunch of them. This is one of the activities I love doing in California. You can never get fruits as sweet as the farms from a supermarket! Click here for pictures.

Today the cleaners were supposed to come at 12:30pm to clean our place, so in order to get the pets out of the way and to prevent them from breathing in too much cleaning chemicals, I drove Charlotte, Cayenne, and even Clover, to the Milpitas Dog Park. We spent a good 1 hour there, and met lots of nice people and their dogs. There was a couple with a 14 year old maltese and a 2 year beagle, another couple with a trio of dogs, 1 Min Pin, 1 Chihuahua, and 1 mixed breed. Then a while later, a lady came with her two cute little pomeranians. There was even a JRT a little while later. Even Clover had a great time enjoying the breeze and he wasn’t a bit afraid of the dogs trying to sniff at him through the cage bars.

We went to the Watson Dog Park last evening, and the girls had a great time there. The downside is that Charlotte had a “reverse sneeze” attack just a few minutes upon entering the park. Not so sure what triggered it, but maybe excitement. Last night she didn’t get a good sleep because of all that honking. This morning she had difficulty going up and down the stairs, and would just stare at me with that pitiful expression. They are both at home today, and I sure hope she’ll get better by this evening.

I am so proud of Cayenne though. Last evening at the park she started out timid and whiny, but as the evening went on she opened up and even started to play with bigger dogs, and even ran with Charlotte all around the park. What a good girl!

You can see pictures of last evening here.

We went to visit a friend of Brian’s who has Yorktese puppies born on June 6th, 2005. There are 3 pups total - 2 males and 1 female. Jessica wants the female, and Brian chose one of the males. They were only 2 and a half weeks, and their eyes were barely open. They looked really cute though, so small and fragile, with really soft fur. We had a fun time playing with them, but only for 40 minutes, coz we needed to get back to work. I’m excited that in a few more weeks two more pups will join our little doggie menagerie at work!

I’ve been waiting for a while now to get the new plates for my Miata, and today I went to collect it!

Doug loves oysters, so we drove to Hog Island Oyster Company on Sunday to get some. The ratty pups came with us, where they sat in their bed in the back seat. Apart from Charlotte’s occasional whining, they were very well behaved, even though it was their longest road trip yet - about 4 hours drive round trip. We ended up having grilled oysters for dinner with some prawns as well. It was yummy!

I also managed to spend the weekend to wash my 3 cars so they are all nice and shiny. The weather forecast shows that it’ll be sunny the whole week, so that’s good news!

On Saturday we were going to join the South Bay Boston Terrier group for their meetup, but we were an hour late, and only 2 bostons were left. Charlotte & Cayenne had fun anyway.

Here I am with the pups:

I was going to drive my Miata today, but the weather didn’t allow me to! It has gone from nice and sunny to wet and gloomy since yesterday evening. Argh!

I was so excited about taking the pups to Fort Funston last Saturday, but it seems the directions didn’t want to take us there. A little left, and a right, and we ended up on the Great Highway. Where the hell is Fort Funston? We didn’t pursue it and just took a walk on the beach. It was such a windy day and all I had on was a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. Good thing I brought my sweater. The wind was so strong that it blew the dry sand all over the place and they felt like little bullets hitting on your body.

The pups did a little exploring, taking the beach scene with a sense of curiosity and caution. I walked them to the water’s edge and as the waves came it their feet got soaked with the sea water. They weren’t thrilled, but accepted it. haha.

I just love this image of them looking out at the waves:

After the beach adventure we decided to drop by the Foster City Dog Park, just to check it out. It was a really clean park with lots of dogs. The ratties met a few dachshunds, a border terrier, and a beagle, among others.

We had a really fun Saturday. Sunday was just spent lazing at home.

We had a great time at the Rat Terrier Playdate last Saturday. I know Charlotte had lots of fun. Cayenne was a little overwhelmed at first, but she did warm up and started playing with the other puppies. What’s great is that she got to reunite with her sister Wiggy, who lives all the way in Stockton! Check out the pictures!

See what a bad mom I am, I totally forgot to mention that Charlotte graduated her Graduate training class last Saturday. I’m so proud of her! The next level of training will be the Advanced, where she’ll work towards earning her Canine Good Citizen (CGC). I’m excited!

On another note, I am really angry with Cayenne. She refuses to go potty when I take them outside in the yard, and the moment she comes into the house, she goes up the stairs and goes on the carpet! I’m getting tired of cleaning up the poop in the house. Now I’m trying a new method and that is to attach her to me wherever I go in the house, so she doesn’t get the chance to wander off and go potty. We’ll see how it works out.

I’ve been little sickie since last weekend. I think it was the change in weather that brought about the sniffles, sore throat, body aches etc. What’s more I can’t medicate since I’m preggers, but just have to rest, drink lots of water, and sleep. I feel much better today, though my nose still drips a little, and at times, become really dry until it hurts. Dang I feel lousy. Tomorrow will be a better day.
