I had a great lunch and catch up with my friend, Lisa. We haven’t seen each other for quite a while, and it was good to catch up on things. After lunch we visited this bird shop in Redwood City. It was so nice to see all the parrots, there were lots of greencheeks for sale, and we played with a couple of yellow-sideds. The one Lisa was holding was really calm and I think he liked the sound of Lisa’s voice. The one I held was ok at first, then he seemed to get somewhat nervous, and suddenly bit my right index finger and took a chunk of skin out. It sounded painful but at the time it wasn’t. I was more caught by surprise. A little while later the wound started to bleed and I had to wash it out. No harm done. ![]()

This weekend will be a fun one for car crazy people like me - Downtown San Jose is turned into a race track for champ cars, drifters, etc, for the Annual San Jose Grand Prix. I hope I can convince Doug to go with me on Sunday. I would love to see the drifting event live.
Heheh, I like to refer to Dr. Nakamura as the “Godfather”, as he has been my vet for most of my little pets - rats, guinea pigs, and now, my dogs. He was the one who spayed Charlotte, and now it is time for Cayenne to get spayed as well. Today was just a checkup, making sure she’s healthy enough for surgery. I’d brought Charlotte together with me as well, and she got something out of the visit too - a microchip. Not a pleasant experience I tell you. She yelped the minute the needle came into contact with her skin, and the vet tech had to get reinforcement to assist her in getting the chip implanted. They even had to use a muzzle. Poor Charlotte, she was terrified, and even peed all over the examination table.
But, all is well now, they are napping right next to my desk at work, and I’ll probably bring them to the park later this evening for some fun before we head home.
Today I had a doctor’s appointment to check on the progress of our baby. I’m about 15 weeks now, and I can feel my tummy starting to get a little bigger. I’ve gained a little weight too, coz I need to eat! For the baby! heheh … oh well. I used to skip lunch sometimes, but now I can’t.
Anyway, at the doctor’s, me and Doug got to hear the little one’s heartbeat. It sounds so cute, like an engine inside me, working all by itself. I’m really excited about our next appointment, coz then I’ll be 20 weeks, and that’s when the ultrasound will be able to identify the sex of the baby. Very fun.
Yesterday I tried to win the every 100,000th song download on the iTunes Music Store, so I bought the latest Coldplay album - X&Y. Didn’t win though, but Coldplay’s new album rocks! I’ve got 2 of their previous albums, and this one is just as good, maybe even better.
Hmm, maybe I’ll try again today.

It has been a crazy week. I had to go work early for the past two days, Doug was on a business trip to South California, and yes I’m sleep deprived. I discovered something interesting about my ratties yesterday. I needed to be at the office at 6am, so I literally had to drag their asses out of the bed. They were sleeping like logs! They are not morning dogs I tell ya. Charlotte was looking at me like I was crazy, the sun wasn’t even up, but I had to take them to work because it would be too early to feed them, and it won’t be good for them to skip a meal. Anyway, they had the opportunity to nap in the car, and continued to sleep when we reached the office. Cayenne wasn’t too fazed by the whole situation, but Charlotte didn’t have appetite to have her breakfast - she didn’t even touch the food. I got worried, took them down for walks (TWICE!), but her appetite came back later in the day.
I felt guilty about waking them up so early, so I took them to the dog park in the evening for some happy time. Turned out we met Pogo, a fellow rat terrier club member, and they had a great time playing with bichons, pinchers, and poodles. We came back at around 8pm, and I cooked some okra for myself, and dozed off watching TV, as usual.
Yesterday was definitely a long day.
Not your regular Monopoly or Boggle, but ever since Doug’s co-worker introduced us to the world of European board games, we are hooked. Two weeks ago I ordered two games from Fun Again Games - Bohnanza and Carcassonne. Just by the name you’ll never know how fun it can be. We’ve been playing Carcassonne for the past few evenings. In the beginning Doug’s been beating me, but I’ve won the last 3 times consecutively. BWAHAHHAHAHA! I don’t know how long my winning streak would last, I’m sure he’s gonna wanna woop my ass!
I love Monterey! We went there yesterday with the ratties. Though I was only like a 1 and a half hour’s drive, there was a few traffic jams along the way. After like 2 hours, we arrived at Cannery Row. The pups got to meet so many people as we walked along the shops and restaurants. Little kids, and adults too, most of them stopped and asked what breed the ratties are, and they even asked if they could pet them. Cayenne is ever so friendly, but Charlotte was a little reserved. We had clam chowder at the Fish Hopper restaurant, took pictures, walked along the beach, and enjoyed looking at the activities around us.
We then dropped by the Monterey State Beach so the pups could have a little run. Man, I tell ya, the sand and water at Monterey was so much better than in San Francisco. The water was much cleaner too, and the place wasn’t as windy, so you don’t feel as if the sand was trying hurl themselves at you. We had a great time and I hope to visit Monterey again soon.

I wish I could get this red MX-5!

I just updated my iTunes to version 4.9, and subscribed to this podcast called the Dawn and Drew Show. Now I’m hooked. This married couple talk about almost anything and everything. Check them out at http://www.dawnanddrew.com.
