DS Lite Sells 10 Times More Than PSP

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

For the week ending May 28 Japanese hardware sales figures show that the Nintendo DS outsold the PSP by a factor of 10. The DS Lite sold 295,103 units, while the PSP managed to sell 27,191.

Well it makes sense, since the price of the DS Lite is so much cheaper than the PSP on launch day.

Nintendo DS Lite – Startup
Originally uploaded by berniechew.com.

So I got home today, eager to get my hands on that hot little DS Lite. I took a few pics, and will get them up tomorrow. I checked the mail and I had “Magnetica” from Gamefly. Cool, at least I’ll wounldn’t be just staring stupidly at the DS Lite. It was an ok game – you use your stylus to “throw” magnetic balls into a spiral of magnetic balls – I would say its simply a modification of Puzzle Bobble. But I do like the fact that you use a stylus and touch screen to play. I’m contemplating on getting a Wifi game but haven’t decided on what to get, maybe Animal Crossing?

Pack, Pack, Pack

Monday, June 12th, 2006

It had been a busy week, trying to get our new place ready for the move, and most of the weekend was spent packing. Argh, what a dread, but sadly, it has to be done. We plan to bring as little junk as possible to our new place, and donated unused clothes, electrical appliances, computer stuff to Goodwill. Our new place is much smaller than our current home, so no sense in cramming it with stuff that we don’t use anymore.

As you might have read in my previous post, my powerbook went dead (hard drive failure) 2 weeks ago, and last week was spent restoring whatever data that I could salvage. Good thing most of my 11,000+ photos were recoverable, now that is priceless. I also did back up the disk a few weeks before the “crash”, so all is not lost. Just bought a new hard drive for it, 100GB, but I’m also planning to get the new Macbook too. Probably want to wait till after the move, when we are more settled in. Can’t wait.

Today my pre-ordered Nintendo DS Lite will arrive. Now you know how I will be spending my evening.

5 Months Old!

Rebecca and Mom
Originally uploaded by berniechew.com.

Rebecca is 5 months old today, and she had a couple of big developmental milestones accomplished. First, she started on semi-solid foods. So far she’s tried sweet potato, rice cereal, and just today, banana. From what we can tell, she loves to eat. Everytime we sit at the table to have dinner, she wants to be part of it too, and would stare at us eating, making eating movements with her mouth.

Second, just a few days ago, she mastered the art of turning. I caught a video of her doing it yesterday, and I’d like to share it with you. I might add that she’s very proud of herself for this accomplishment.
