Ever since I got my first taste of trail after a 3 year hiatus, I’m back to being bike-obsessed. I have a 2003 Raleigh Tess, a hardtail, which is pretty decent for light trail riding, but I’ve always wanted a Cannondale bike, ever since I was a wee teenager in Singapore dreaming about riding that cool Super V. I am now also looking into whether I should get a road bike, since much of my biking is done on paved trail. But, after thinking about it for 2 days, I’ve decided that my heart is still in getting off-road, eating up the trails, and enjoying the bumps. So, no skinny tires for me, well, for now at least. heee.
Now, about that Cannondale Rush …

Today’s probably the only dry day for the rest of the week – forecast says that the rain will be visiting us again on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. So last evening I hooked up the trunk of my car with the cheap bike rack, and brought my bike to work today. I started out trying to drive on the freeway, but looking through the rear-view mirror it didn’t seem that my bike rack was going to hold up on the freeway. I exited, and took El Camino instead. It was a good decision, except that it took my about 15 minutes more to get to my workplace.
So during lunch today I took my bike out to Bair Island in Redwood City, and rode the 3-mile loop around the slough. It was a pretty good feeling to be biking again, after about a 3 year hiatus.
So I’ll probably be doing quite a bit of biking from next week. I’ll admit right now, I’ve NEVER taken Caltrain before, so this might be a good time to start. You know, I just can’t live without my car. I’m still trying to figure out how to get my bike rack to fit perfectly on my car trunk, since I have a hatchback. Today’s drive has caused my rear spoiler to be scratched up pretty bad since the weight of my bike pulled down the metal part of the rack. UGH. Well, what’s done cannot be undone. I’ll have to be more careful.

Last weekend was the 13th Annual Spring Garden Market event that took place in San Jose. I’d wanted to get a few veggie seedlings to start my container gardening for the Summer, so I was on the lookout for tomatoes. We ended up getting two small tomato varieties, plus three chilli varieties. The event was great, but too bad it got really windy, and I don’t think Rebecca enjoyed it that much. I have yet to buy large pots to transplant the seedlings. Might do so this weekend, or some time during the week. Check out more pictures here.

We bought Rebecca a new car seat because she’s now 23 pounds and height-wise she’s outgrown her Graco infant car seat. She’s looks all grown-up in this picture I took today. It’s by Evenflo, but I’m not sure what model it is though. I find it cute that this car seat has armrests. She loves it. Now she has a clear view of the cars and everything around her.
If mashups could take place in dreams, I’ve got a good one for you. So, I’ve been playing a lot of God of War II the past two weeks, trying to finish up the game and send it back (it’s a rental). If you’ve played GOW before, you’ll know that Kratos is one merciless warrior, and the different ways he kills his enemies is what makes the game spectacular. Last night, I’d watched The Apprentice LA, so here it is – Donald Trump, and Kratos, in my head. What resulted was a pretty interesting dream I had. In my dream, the Trumpster was a ruthless boss who would kill anyone who doesn’t get things right, and I mean really kill, and not just kill, but in horrible ways, much like how Kratos does it. No one dares to defy him. I wasn’t one of his employees though, but was driving and I accidentally hit some of his stuff (I forget what), and was “brought before him”. It was scary, but now that I recall it, it seemed ridiculous and amusing. Just thought I’d share.

I’ve been playing with around with a new web 2.0 site that allows you to create pages just like those of scrapbooks. Having never done scrapbooking before, I find the experience really fun. What’s nice is that its so simple to use. When you first go to the site (http://www.scrapblog.com), you have a chance to take a quick tour, where the different things that you can do at the site are presented. What’s cool is that you do everything on a separate browser window that looks like an actual program. Loading is pretty fast too, which, to me, is a make it or break it. You can import pictures from a variety of sources, like Photobucket and Flickr. You can easily add backgrounds, stickers, text, text balloons, etc, and the interface is neat and clean.
Here’s what I’ve created so far:

So if you like scrapbooking but not the hassle of cutting stuff and pasting in real life, give Scrapblog a try.
